How do I check if my base station is performing poorly?

  • My rover has good sky view and plenty of satellites, but the fix is terrible. How can I tell if my base station is the problem?

  • Poor base station performance often manifests as frequent RTK drops, high latency, or rover instability. To evaluate:

    1. Monitor the base station's satellite tracking - is it seeing enough satellites with good SNR?
    2. Check the correction stream - are clients receiving data consistently, or are there gaps?
    3. Perform a swap test by temporarily replacing the base station with a known good unit. If the issue goes away, your original base is the problem.

Hopefully this information can help you identify the issue.

  • Thanks, that's helpful. Could you please provide more details on how to actually perform each step?
